Christofle Flatware | America
Based in France, the Christofle brand has been mastering the art of silversmithing since its founding in 1830. Today, Christofle silverware is one of Europe’s finest silverware houses and is celebrated for producing beautiful works of art that strike the perfect balance between classicism and modernity. Indeed almost two centuries of award-winning artisan experience is paired with daring contemporary design in collections and collaborations that represent the finest in hand-crafted and finished silver.
Created in 1933 by designer Luc Lanel, the AMERICA tableware collection reflects design elements of the Art Deco period. With its precise edges, flat molding and animated angles, America excudes clean, graphic lines, characteristic of the architectural elements of this period.
Named after America’s reign of the ‘Roaring Twenties’, the collection evokes the breath of freedom that spread across Europe and the new world after the First World War. A time when America revealed itself to be a major cultural influence, America infuses the spirit of victory and blossoming of the arts. Music, painting, architecture and literature were deeply renewed as were the shifts in certain lifestyles, which broke free from the classic codes of the past.
